Teaching Philosophy

Heather brings over 30 years of experience in teaching and mentoring golfers of all levels, guided by her passion for helping players unlock their full potential while cultivating a lifelong love for the game. Whether you're picking up a club for the first time in retirement or preparing for collegiate athletics as a high school student, Heather understands that every golfer is unique. Her approach is rooted in the belief that there is no one-size-fits-all swing. Instead, she tailors her instruction to your individual capabilities and physical abilities, helping you discover a swing that works for you and supports your personal journey in golf.

From advanced players to beginners, every golfer brings a unique swing to the lesson tee. My job is to evaluate contact, ball flight, and areas of inconsistency, understand the player’s goals for improvement, and create a tailored plan to help them succeed. I begin by adjusting the basics, then address other weaknesses in their swing to develop a repeatable and effective motion. My approach often involves a bit of trial and error to discover the most comfortable, consistent swing that delivers reliable results.

In addition to swing mechanics, short game practice is essential. A confident, effective wedge game and the ability to finish great shots with the putter are often overlooked but are critical aspects of success and overall game improvement.

The final step in developing an enjoyable and effective game is course feedback. In my years of teaching, I’ve found that the biggest stumbling block for many players is transferring skills from the range to the course. I enjoy taking students onto the course, helping them evaluate shot feedback, offering course management suggestions, and watching them flourish as their confidence grows and the learning process comes full circle.

Testimonials

"Heather completely transformed my game. When I first started working with her, I was a frustrated beginner who couldn’t hit the ball straight to save my life. Heather’s patient, personalized approach not only improved my swing but also gave me the confidence I needed to truly enjoy the game. Now, I’m not only hitting the ball consistently, but I’ve also fallen in love with golf.”
